At the start of the year, I decided to do the One Hundred Push Ups program. I’ve never been able to do push ups or have had much upper body strength in general so this is something different to add into my life.
I have to note that I am doing knee push ups though. I have no interest in building bulk. Lean and tightened muscles are great, but more than that, I think it would just be cool to be able to do one hundred push ups, even if they are the girly ones.
One interesting thing I’m finding out about push ups—they don’t leave you sore for the rest of the day. They make you really sore during and right afterwards, but I think you don’t use these muscles for a lot of the regular daily stuff so there really aren’t any side effects to doing this regimen.
I’m sure the Two Hundred Sit Ups would be an entirely different story.
I just got done with the retest after week 2. You’re supposed to do as many good-form push ups as you can to determine your sets and reps for the weeks that follow. My initial test resulted in twenty knee push ups.
After two weeks of training, I can now do thirty-three. I’m one-third of the way through the program and I can do one-third of a hundred push ups. That’s really weird symmetry.
On the plus side, I can really feel my arms tighten. I keep startling myself on the occasions when I cross my arms. Whoa, there’s some good muscle there.
