Movie: Slumdog Millionaire (15-word Review)
Not bad but deserving of a Best Picture Oscar win? What am I not seeing?
The order of how I would have voted:
Best Picture

Here is my favorite read from the past week:
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button came from Netflix way back in May. It’s been sitting on my DVD player since then. I just couldn’t summon up the enthusiasm to sit through 2:40 of an epic.
The movie, however, ended up to be nothing like that. Rather than the heavy, serious journey through one man’s life that I was expecting, Benjamin Button is a light, lyrical fairy tale.
The only times I wanted to stop watching the movie were when I wanted to get up, get out, and start Living. The rest of the time, I happily stayed within the world of this story.
It’s a lovely work that shows there is still a place for length in movie-making. The special effects really work, and all the actors are wonderful.
How I would rate last year’s Best Picture nominees:
Actor in a Leading Role
