Recommended Blog Articles for the Week of June 15

Here are my favorite reads from the past week:

  • I’ve been getting a lot of comments that link back to Google. I am DoFollow blog, but I couldn’t figure out what would be the benefit of leaving a comment that promotes Google. Nick’s Blog was nice enough to show me that I’m not alone and think through some of the reasons why others would want to do this.
  • I watched this Literal Video of Total Eclipse of the Heart at Beth Amsel’s journal. I don’t think I have ever seen the original video before. What the heck is the song about? Right now, the song is stuck in my head, and I can’t shake the accompanying images. I am well disturbed.
  • The boyfriend sent me to these bumper stickers on Zazzle. They are rather right up my alley.

The 2009 Puppyzilla City of Chicago Car Sticker

2009 city of chicago car stickerHave you seen the image for the city of Chicago’s next car sticker?

I know things are bad, but do we have to resort to puppies?

A flag-waving puppy?

And does this flag-waving puppy have to destroy Chicago?

Aw, it’s ok, pup. Go ahead and lift a leg on the soon-to-be Willis Tower.

And step on some parking boxes while you’re at it.

The MP3 Shuffle Challenge

I put my mp3 player on “shuffle all.” The first ten songs that came up are listed below. If you want to play, feel free to share your list in the comments or on your own site. Don’t forget to link back so I can visit you.

  1. The Warning by Beth Amsel (love Beth Amsel. great voice. has a gift for melody.)
  2. On the Atchinson, Topeka, and the Santa Fe by Judy Garland (I have a thing for show tunes.)
  3. XXX’s And OOO’s (An American Girl) live version by Trisha Yearwood (One of the great singers out there today.)
  4. When She’s Gone by Mary Chapin Carpenter (MCC’s been the artist of my life.)
  5. Shut Up and Kiss Me by Mary Chapin Carpenter (Other artists fall in and out of favor. MCC’s always there.)
  6. Resist by Melissa Etheridge (Besides the ones on the radio, I can’t get into her music very much. She provides a good rock mix though.)
  7. Too Late To Cry by Alison Krauss (Illinois girl with an incredible voice. I like her bluegrass better than Del McCoury‘s.)
  8. Trouble in Mind by Alice Peacock (This is off a collection put out by the Old Town School of Folk Music.)
  9. Stones in my Passway by Robert Johnson (I get some cred for this one right?)
  10. Cover Me by Bruce Springsteen (Brruuuuccce!)
