I thought I would institute a new tradition here at Ms. Smarty Pants Know It All. Here are some of my most worthwhile reads from the past week. I don’t always know what the publication date is, but they were new to me.

• MoneyNing with What are the Presidential Candidates Saying About Future Taxes. You can see in exact numbers what will happen to your taxes under each candidate’s proposed tax plan.
• A Blogger Blog with Lesson 6: Google Page Rank. Now I know how to find out my PR.
• Here’s a clear and easy-to-understand article about SEO.

Tonight, I’m going to the Opening Night Gala of the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival. The boyfriend has a short that will be playing next Saturday morning at 9:30 AM. His short is called Lullaby. They even used a capture from it as the promo image. How cool is that?!

I usually try to avoid anything with the word “gala” in its name but seeing as how he’s now eligible for an Academy Award nomination, I’m pretty excited to go.

Almost everyone out there says that successful bloggers are niche bloggers. For me though, I’ve always been a generalist. I’m the classic Master of None. But I know enough about so many things that I can usually have an intelligent conversation with anyone I meet.

I have other blogs out there for specific purposes, but this one is my personal, general blog. In two statistical categories, this is the one that is doing the best.

1. Technorati authority. Because I can write about almost anything, I can participate in a variety of blog carnivals. That gets me backlinks. Which gets me authority.
2. Google page rank. I think I’m at a PR of 2 now. For probably the same reason.

I’m not really interested in doing anything differently here. These are just almost unintentional by-products of my general blog. But since I like stats and improvements, I’m going to keep trying to make the numbers grow.
