Movie: Wall-E
I saw Wall-E this past weekend. Pixar has another winner.
The boyfriend is an animator so I get to see a lot more animated features than the typical adult sans children, but I enjoy them a lot. Before I met him (and Pixar), I was on a steady diet of Disney already. But I think Pixar’s status is hardly arguable these days.
I just wonder, given their focus on stories and characters and the resulting box office rewards, why other studios (animated or not) can’t seem to follow. Their output of every year or three is the result of coming up with an amazing story first. Then they storyboard the emotions and details until the end product is going to be loved by all generations. If Pixar is able to bat a thousand with its movies, can’t the rest of the field manage to raise its percentage just a little bit?
It was nice to go this weekend. There were a large number of adults there without accompanying kids. And a large number of those sat all the way through the credits—like we did.
