• In my write up about the finale of Doctor Who’s Season Five, I complained about the feel of Steven Moffat‘s Doctor Who run as compared to that of Russel T Davis‘s. Leave it to Jacob to deftly explain one aspect of the difference.
• Ryno goes to the Phillies. Amen and good luck. You can’t win if you stick with the Cubs. You’ve gotta be like Maddox and Gracie to get your due. Here’s to hoping that Number 23 has a ring in his future.

• The Dewey Donation System is still going. There’s an incentive going to watch Pamie’s mom make her Internet video debut. If that doesn’t get you, look at the Wall of Dewey!

If there are people you like to read out there, give their ads a mouse press. They get a couple of pennies, and nothing happens to you. Independent voices are getting fewer and fewer in number. We have to keep them going out there.

• When I read the directions on this math contest, I wasn’t sure what I would have done. The kids are impressive. I think I would have put “x+1,” which I’m not sure qualifies as a valid entry.
• I am so thankful that Jacob has the Doctor Who assignment over at TWoP. If I did’t get to read stuff like his Cold Blood recap, I would be missing out on so much.

• There are those who think I read a lot while I actually think I don’t read enough. Either way, don’t tell me you wish you had more time to read.
• My latest TV on DVD is Damages. I was hooked right from the Pilot. Now that I’m first five episodes in, I’m totally invested. It is ambitious, complicated, and it also completely messes with my head.

• It’s always a bit embarrassing but also a lot satisfying when someone says what I want to say better than I can. Here’s Jeff Giles’s review of The Age of Miracles as well as his thoughts on Mary Chapin Carpenter.

• One of my absolute favorites, Patty Griffin, apparently got a big boost from American Idol.

• And another one of my favorites, Mary Chapin Carpenter, is her usual thoughtful, intelligent self in this The Boot interview.

• Also a newly-found site: Offbeat Bride. I loved the thoughts and touches this couple put into their wedding ceremony. And Space Invaders wedding invitations? Come on with the awesomeness!

• Doctor Who on The Sarah Jane Adventures. Yay! I can’t wait to see what Sarah Jane thinks of this new one. And I’ll also get to meet another companion from the past.
• It’s not my read on the Doctor Who The Beast Below episode, but I’ll always appreciate Jacob’s insight and analytical skills. While I’m here, I’m going to recommend his recap of The Victory of the Daleks sight unread because I’m just that confident in him.

• Mary Chapin Carpenter has a new album out. The two Amazon reviews for The Age of Miracles are pretty awesome. I don’t mean awesome in that they gush but that they are so well written.
• I don’t know how long this link will stay live, but for right now, you can listen to the entire The Age of Miracles album free on AOL.
• Just one more reason to rejoice that Doctor Who is back—Jacob at Television Without Pity.
