Recommended Blog Articles for the Week of November 24

Here are my favorite reads from the past week:
- The Shark Investor with How YOUR Saving Advice Caused the Financial Crisis. People always talk about how capitalism makes for a selfish society. An issue that isn’t talked about a lot is that people who save and people who are frugal are extremely selfish—especially in the context of our existing world, one that is built upon mass delusions. Thank goodness capitalism also makes for an independent society because I feel just fine continuing my selfish saving ways. The country needs to recover from its make-believe standards that obscene debt is good for business and government. I’ll be here in my reality.
- Mary Chapin Carpenter’s Washington TImes column: A Campaign, A Commercial. Mary Chapin Carpenter has never been out of my top 3 favorite musicians since I first found her in the early ’90s. I know she is an incredible prose writer as well, and I’m looking forward to reading more from her on a regular basis.
