Travel: Day 1, Part 1-Indianapolis

My friend and I decided to visit Dearborn and Detroit. She lives in Indiana.

To make things easier, I thought I would fly down to Indianapolis so we could start our road trip from there. When this trip started coming together, the analysts said that summer gas could get to $4 a gallon. Right now, it’s still between $3.60–$3.80 but flying only cost me $109 with United. With the two hours saved, I’m counting it even.

To top things off, the plane left right on time and landed early. It helps to fly the first leg of each day I suppose. The moment the electronics ban was lifted, I started up my Dell DJ. The first song on the shuffle?—”Born to Run” by Bruce Springsteen! My road trip song! It was a sign.

Three songs later, I had to shut the songs off because we were descending. As I waited for my friend to pick me up, I noticed that the Delta Baggage Office Service office (open 8:00–11:30, the door said) did not open until 9:35 am when a harried looking woman tried to unlock the door while balancing a coffee and her papers. The guy who was waiting since 9:00 could finally get his bags.

Next . . . on the road
