Art: Caroline Anderson
I seem to be on a texture kick lately. I found Caroline Anderson at the Ravenswood Art Walk this past weekend. When I first saw these pieces, I thought they were some kind of paper or fabric collages. As I got closer, I saw that they were texturized paintings.
She explained how she layers the paint and then crafts it so that you can see aspects of each block in all the other blocks. She explained it a whole lot better than that but I’ve had a lot of art this weekend, and I think I’ve lost the specific details.
I do know that I loved how interesting her works looked from a distance and that they maintained their interest as I got closer. I think she has a very strong design and composition aesthetic, but her paintings still tell a story. This one is called Strong Connection.
