Ode to the Wheeling Auto Center
I miss my car shop. Once upon a time, I used to live in Wheeling, Illinois. The Wheeling Auto Center took care of my car. I have no idea if they are still as great as they were, but boy do I miss having a place I could trust.
By the look of their website, they sure have upgraded. Hopefully, the basics of what I remember are still in place.
They had a great loaner car program. I could get one even if I just scheduled an oil change. When those mileage maintenance schedules came up, they told me not to worry about it. They would let me know when work would actually need to be done. And they did!
The waiting area was clean. Everything was computerized. They always came up favorably when I did price comparisons. When I needed a window replaced, they brought someone to their location to fix it rather than having me drop it off somewhere else.
I’ve moved a couple of times in my life and miss certain places—restaurants, libraries, etc. But I miss my favorite car shop with a body ache. It’s a strange thing.
The autmotive business can be very trying at times. All I can say is reading comments like yours make it a whole bunch easier!
To answer your thoughts, yeas the basics are still here and we constantly improve them.
If you haven’t been here for more than 5 years, the shop has grown, the wating room is larger and cleaner…oh yeah, we decided the website needed an upgrade as well.
Now I’m going to sit awake and wonder who you are.
