BSG: The Mystery of the Final Cylon
spoilers through Six of One (4.2), speculation for season 4
So there are twelve Cylon models. Seven were known. Four were revealed. One remains unidentified.
The final divulgence needs to have impact.
But I’ve already ruled out the big two: Admiral William Adama and President Laura Roslin. For the record, I did this before Ronald D. Moore, executive producer, confirmed that neither of them were Cylons in a TV Guide interview.
Adama is the father of two boys. Since the show makes such a big deal about Hera, the daughter of Helo and Athena, being the first ever Cybrid, that takes the Admiral out of the running.
Roslin has and had cancer. Cylons don’t seem to get sick. They didn’t know what to do with Hera’s blocked intestinal tract and were completely unhinged (no pun intended) by the killer virus.
So who is the fifth? As Moore says, “Even if you guess correctly, it’s still just a guess.” So blah, I’m guessing. Thematically, I think Cally would be an interesting choice because then she and Chief would have an honest-to-goodness procreated Cylon baby.
If the Cylons realize that they are “whole and complete” onto themselves, perhaps their obsession with humanness and humanity can end. Then it’s a new start again, for both species.
Besides, Cally has been pretty boring and annoying (for me) so far. Surely there’s a point to her.
How are others guessing? Here are some of the more intriguing choices that I’ve come across:
Whatever your guess, how does this analysis of the differences between the “Final Five” and the “original seven” play into it? Interesting no?

The notion of the Final Cylon being Cally — and then Nikki being the first full-blood born Cylon — is tempting, but after looking at the evidence I came to a different conclusion: Dualla. Check out my reasons here.
LIsa, good point about Anders having been sick. Frankly, the more I read, the more I’m ruling everyone out. I’m just hoping that the reveal is going to be gooodddd.
Now that her status has changed Callie could be included in one of my possibles.
I wonder if we will even get to see the final cylon. Maybe that was what one might term a curve ball we know who she was but that’s that.
Personally, I think they all end up back on Kobol and the cycle begins again but that’s just my instinct.
Dan, I would be interested in finding out the histories of the Final Five. Why are they here? Where did they come from? Do they have a purpose beyond existence and survival?
If they tell those stories, I think we’ll have to see Ellen again–at least in flashbacks.
