Recommended Blog Articles for the Week of March 19

Here are my favorite reads from the past week:

  • Maureen Ryan’s interview with Michael Taylor about his Battlestar Galactica episode Islanded in a Stream of Stars. I’m recommending it because I’m totally fangirl-ing over Taylor’s fanboy wish to be visualized as a Viper jock. Gotta love a show that has the cast and crew as its biggest fans.
  • The Watcher also reported that there will be a Battlestar Galactica panel at the United Nations. I’ve always said that BSG was sci-fi for non-sci-fi people. Of course, it’s also sci-fi for sci-fi people.
  • Even more Battlestar here. I always read Jacob at Television Without Pity, but I must especially recommend his All My Darling Daughters recap for Islanded in a Stream of Stars. Allow me to quote this:

Because as much as this episode is about the concept of home […] it’s also about finishing the equation Sartre and Milton started: not “hell is other people,” not “myself am hell,” but something much better. Home is other people. Home is letting go of the place you only thought you were standing; the place you thought was home. And it takes the heaven of everybody else to get you there.
